Amy E. Wheelus is Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO) of Gigapower, LLC, a next‑generation fiber broadband operator formed as a joint venture between AT&T and BlackRock. Reporting directly to the CEO, Amy leads Gigapower’s end‑to‑end technology strategy, including network architecture and engineering, product development, and enterprise technology systems.
A strategic technology executive, Amy is known for aligning complex technical innovation with business outcomes at scale. She has led large‑scale transformations across network operations, software platforms, and operating models in dynamic market environments, with a consistent focus on value creation, speed of adoption, and customer impact.
Before joining Gigapower, Amy built a distinguished career at AT&T, holding senior leadership roles across corporate strategy, consumer technology, network cloud, and broadband platforms. She played a pivotal role in the industry’s shift to software‑defined networking and network virtualization, led delivery of AT&T’s Network Cloud hosting the 5G packet core, and helped launch the world’s first standards‑based 5G millimeter wave call. Her work also included pioneering open infrastructure initiatives and scalable cloud‑native platforms that continue to influence telecom architecture.
Amy’s expertise spans AI and machine learning, cloud and edge computing, OSS/BSS modernization, 5G, open access architectures, and large‑scale fiber networks. She holds an MBA from Emory University and a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech, where she serves on the ISYE Advisory Board. She has received multiple industry honors, including the 2024 Distinguished Digital Engineering Leader Award.
