Fireside Chat: Lucky LEO and What Comes Next

Approximately 880,000 American homes have been conscribed to low earth orbital satellites as their broadband connection. What can we do, as the fiber broadband industry to help this demographic get connected given the funding constraints, timelines, repair requirements, and other key parameters associated with NTIA’s BEAD program. What happens to those served when the satellite providing their services reaches its end of life in five years, and states are required to ensure repairs for ten years. How can FBA members create an actionable plan to step in when LEO fails from a policy, deployment, and community impact perspective.
