Len Ciavattone is a senior telecom engineer with 40 years of experience in data-network performance, interoperability, and Quality of Service (QoS) architectures. At AT&T Labs he led performance and characterization testing of ISP network elements, prototyped and certified QoS functionality, and developed a suite of software test tools, including a carrier-scale probe generator used to measure and monitor the AT&T backbone. Before AT&T, he performed interoperability and performance testing at Lucent Technologies. His career began in 1986 with hands-on testing and source-code support of Frame Relay and X.25 switching systems. He is the primary developer and current project lead of the Broadband Forum’s open-source OB-UDPST (Open Broadband - UDP Speed Test) software.
