Derek Kelly is the Vice President of Market Development at Lumos, where he leads market expansion strategy, state and local government relations, public-private partnerships, and broadband grant programs to drive fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) growth. With a focus on collaboration and community engagement, Derek and his team work closely with local and state governments, industry stakeholders, and community partners to increase broadband access and bridge the digital divide.
Bringing nearly 25 years of industry experience, Derek has held leadership roles across sales, operations, communications, and government affairs, equipping him with a well-rounded perspective on broadband expansion. Since joining Lumos in 2021, he has played a key role in the company’s rapid growth and commitment to building future-proof fiber networks.
Beyond his role at Lumos, Derek is actively involved in broadband advocacy. He previously servee as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Virginia Broadband Industry Association and is currently the Vice Chair of the Kramden Institute, a North Carolina-based nonprofit dedicated to closing the digital divide through computer refurbishing and digital literacy training.
